Pope John Paul sign AIFL top scorer from DOSAD FC as ANSFA holds draw for Super 8

Anambra Independent Football League leading goal scorer Okeke John, has joined Pope John Paul FC of Okpuno, Awka South until the end of the Anambra Super 8 football season.

The forward, who scored 11 goals in 8 matches for the AIFL League leaders during the first stanza of the ongoing season 5, was unveiled on Wednesday, along with Romanus Chinonso and Adaduaka Ejike who also played for DOSAD FC.
Pope John Paul FC knocked out DOSAD during the zonal playoffs but some of their players along with some players of some other teams, have found their way back into the super 8 Tournament either by joining other clubs on free transfer or on money transfer.
The tournament’s official transfer window ended before the players were officially unveiled by their respective new clubs on Wednesday, Clubs were allowed to sign at least three players and PJP FC duly took advantage of it.
Other clubs that also unveiled their new players were Rangels FA, Smith City FC, Ifechikwuru FC, Konti FC and GP World FA.

Meanwhile draws for the group stage and final round of matches were made at the ceremony which took place at the ANSFA secretariat at Udoka Housing Estate Awka on Wednesday.

The 8 teams that qaulified from their respective zones during the zonal playoffs were drawn in two groups of 4 teams each.

The group matches will be played at the Chuba Ikpeazu Stadium in Onitsha, between the 29th and 31st of March 2021, each day will witness four matches.

Match day one fixtures
Monday 29th March.

Ifechikwuru vs Konti 10am
Smith City vs Mekon 12pm
Rangels vs Pope John Paul 2pm
Golden Boys vs GP World 4pm
