Fr. Mike Muonwe Tennis Tournament Ends

Saturday May, 15, 2019 marked the end of Fr Mike Mounwe Tennis Tournament. The competition held at St. Patrick’s Cathedral Lawn Tennis Court Awka.

The tournament which was played by Awka Diocesan Catholic Priests in doubles category, was won by the pair of Frs Peter Ibeazor and Justin Ezechukwu. The pair defeated Frs Kevin Ezemmaduka and Augustine Nnadi 7:5,6:4 to cart away the tournament trophy. The awards were given to the winners and consolation prizes given to all who participated in the tournament by the sponsor, Rev Fr Dr Mike Muonwe.

In a vote of thanks, Fr Mounwe thanked the Almighty God for keeping them alive to witness the end of the tournament, He also thanked all the priests who honored the event and all Tennis players. “Without you this tournament wouldn’t have been a successful one. Therefore, I can’t thank you all enough especially our Lord Bishops and the Director of DOSAD sports Very Rev Fr Coach Obinna Dike” he said.

In their appreciation speeches, the champions of the tournament Frs Ibeazor and Ezechukwu appreciated the sponsor of the tournament Fr Mike Mounwe for the excess love he has shown them and of course the Tennis coordinator Rev Fr Paul Chukwuelobe, for all his efforts to make sure that it was a successful one.

The runners-up Frs Ezemmaduka and Nnadi, also appreciated the Diocese for the opportunity given to priests to have a recreation place like the Tennis court after work in the Lord’s Vineyard. they then thanked all the umpires for their efforts in making the competition a memorable one.

At last, the Diocesan Chancellor, Rev Fr Dr Francis Chidume and the chairman LOC, thanked the entire priests for their spirit of brotherhood and sportsmanship through Tennis and other sports.“We are proud of our priests because we know what they can do in every situation in life. Therefore I say a very big thank you to you all” he concluded.
