DOSAD FA Lifts Anambra Independent League Season5 Cup 

DOSAD Football Academy, Enugu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area has emerged champions of Anambra Independent Football League (AIFL) Season 5.

AIFL founded in 2017 is a private sector driven football league for amateur clubs in Anambra under the chairmanship of Rev. Fr Coach Obinna Dike.

The league which had 10 clubsides ended with each team playing 18 matches apiece.

In the matches decided on the last day of the league at St Mary Football Field Ifitedunu, on Feb. 23, Rangels FA drew 1-1 with Mekon FC while Burbendorf walloped GP World FA 3- 0

Ozalla FC had a 2-0 win over Obeledu United and DOSAD FA ended the day with a 2-2 draw with Cardinal Arinze FC.

DOSAD ended the league with 40 points from 18 games with 12 wins, four draws and two losses while Bubbendof FA were second with 35 points after 10 wins, five draws and three losses in 18 games.

According to the final table released by the organisers, Ozalla FA and GP World FA were third and fourth with 30, 27 points from 11, 8 wins, three, three draws and four, seven losses respectively.

The fifth position was occupied by Cardinal Arinze FC with 25 points followed by Mekon FC which garnered 21 points and Rangels FC ended the seventh position with 19 points from the same number of games.

Ogene FC and  Obeledu United got 19 and 16  points respectively to finish eighth and ninth on the log while World FA picked up the rear with six points.

DOSAD’s Okeke Chinaza was the highest goal  scorer with 15 goals, Onyeka Afubero of Cardinal Arinze FC was second highest scorer with nine goals.

 Chibuike Udueze of Bubendorff, Godwin Okoyeatu of DOSAD and Odinaka Adina of GP World were joint third with seven goals.

Fr Dike described the season as a very hectic but successful one and congratulated all the teams, players and officials that participated while promising that the Season 6 would be richer.

He paid tribute to Philip Udala,  chairman of Udala FC, a stakeholder in the league and Godsent Eriobu, Secretary of AIFL who were both killed in an attack on July 13.
